Trip Details
Shipton Spire Located just above the confluence of the North and South Hainabroq Glaciers, three miles across the Trango Glacier, lies the elusive Shipton Spire. Standing two hours’ walk from the Trango Towers Group on the Upper Trango Glacier, its walls rise out of the massive glacial junction, displaying a stunning and fierce appearance. Rock towers like these attract climbers from around the world, and while the climbing is challenging, the quality of the rock is superb. Its major route is a 29-pitch, 4,400-foot big wall with pitch ratings of 6c, 7b, and 7b+, offering an exceptional technical climb that one can expect on a Karakoram granite tower.
