Trip Details
The Baintha Brakk consists of several peaks, with Latok I standing at 7145m, and Latok II at 7108m. The west face of Latok II was first climbed in 1997 by Toni Gutsch, Alex, and Thomas Huber, and a recent Italian expedition measured Latok II to be higher than Latok I. Other peaks in the area include Latok III at 6940m, Latok IV at 6456m, and Latok IV SE Ca6450m. Close by are Choktoi at 6166m, Baintha Brakk SE at 6960m, 7285m middle, Orge Thumb/Lukphila Brakk at 5500m, Spaldang at 5590m, and Biacherahi Towers at 5900m. The Latok peaks are known for their big walls, which are steep precipices that are over 70 degrees in angle and over a kilometer in length. Only 20 such walls exist in the world, and Latok is one of them. The Latok peaks offer a mix of ice and rock climbing, with many faces yet to be climbed, providing opportunities for adventurers to make their own first ascents.
